Supply of Enforcement Equipment for the Customs Service of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (IAPR) to combat smuggling

Description: The purpose of the Act is the supply and installation of prosecution equipment for the customs service in order to combat smuggling and trafficking:
- Forty-two (42) fixed X-ray object control devices (X/RAYS) with automatic suspicious object detection system
- Twenty (20) flexible fiber optic endoscopes
- Five (5) truck weighing systems (weighbridges)
- Sixteen (16) portable chemical analysis instruments
- Two (2) gantry-type X-ray inspection systems for loaded trucks and containers
- Two (2) fixed X-ray freight train inspection systems
- One thousand (1000) laptops and five hundred and two (502) tablets to support the prosecution of smuggling
Objectives: Facilitating legitimate trade and promoting entrepreneurship while simultaneously implementing the appropriate level of controls required for the safety of citizens and the protection of public health, the environment and the economic interests of both the country and the European Union are a key objective of the Greek Customs Service.
Technology and equipment are cornerstones that enable modern customs administrations to meet the rapidly changing challenges of the operating environment. The use of modern enforcement tools is a powerful tool for effectively protecting the country's economic interests and protecting against illicit trade, while supporting legitimate business activity, protecting public health and safety.
Expected benefits: The minimum expected measurable results of the operation are the following:
- The effective treatment and suppression of smuggling,
- The effective protection of legitimate trade and competitiveness and the promotion of entrepreneurship and innovation,
- Shielding the country from terrorist threats,
- The protection of public health and safety as well as the environment,
- The increase in Public Revenue,
- The protection of the financial interests of the country and the EU.

- Taxpayers (natural persons, legal entities and other entities): protection of public health and safety, protection of the country's fiscal interests which may have direct consequences for taxpayers, increase in public revenues.
- Businesses: Protecting legitimate trade, facilitating the supply chain, protecting competitiveness, promoting entrepreneurship and innovation.
- Customs Service personnel: faster and more effective controls and improved efficiency and effectiveness.
