Following the inspection conducted by the Piraeus Chemical Service of the General Directorate of the General Chemical State Laboratory (G.C.S.L.), and in accordance with Decision No. 30/010/000/9/29.04.2025 of the Supreme Chemical Council (S.C.C.) regarding the examination results of the unleaded gasoline 95 RON sample 14564/2024. Sample A is deemed NON-COMPLIANT – ADULTERATED, due to the presence of: a) methanol at a concentration of at least 15.9%, b) isobutanol at a concentration of at least 7.1%, c) other lighter petroleum products at a concentration of at least 6.1%, and d) other heavier petroleum products at a concentration of at least 1.4%, i.e., a total adulteration percentage of at least 30.2%, as it contains: a) 18.9% v/v methanol (maximum allowed: 3% v/v), b) 22.1% isobutanol (maximum allowed: 15%), c) 15.8% m/m oxygen (maximum allowed: 3.7% m/m), d) distillation at 70°C: 58.1% v/v (maximum allowed: 52% v/v), e) distillation at 100°C: 76.9% v/v (maximum allowed: 72% v/v), f) distillation residue: 3.4% v/v, g) quinizarin: 0.4 mg/l (expected: 3 mg/l). Sample B is deemed NON-COMPLIANT – ADULTERATED, due to the presence of: a) methanol at a concentration of at least 17.7%, b) isobutanol at a concentration of at least 7.3%, c) other lighter petroleum products at a concentration of at least 8%, and d) other heavier petroleum products at a concentration of at least 1.4%, i.e., a total adulteration percentage of at least 34.4%, as it contains: a) 20.7% v/v methanol (maximum allowed: 3% v/v), b) 22.3% isobutanol (maximum allowed: 15%), c) 16.6% m/m oxygen (maximum allowed: 3.7% m/m), d) distillation at 70°C: 60% v/v (maximum allowed: 52% v/v), e) distillation at 100°C: 78.8% v/v (maximum allowed: 72% v/v), f) distillation residue: 3.4% v/v, g) quinizarin: 0.46 mg/l (expected: 3 mg/l). The tanker truck sample was found to be NON-COMPLIANT, as it contains quinizarin at a concentration of 2.42 mg/l instead of 3.0 mg/l. |

Fuel adulteration (art. 119A(4), law 2960/2001) According to the Chemical Examination Reports of the Chemical Service of Central Macedonia and the Prot. no. 30/010/000/139/2024/13-01-2025 Decision of the Hellenic Chemical Service 139/2024, the fuel sample UNLEADED GASOLINE 95 RON, originating from a quantity of 3,125.60 liters, was deemed ABNORMAL – ADULTED with other petroleum products, as: - Sample A: 1) has a vapor pressure of 67.2Kpa instead of the maximum permitted 60.0Kpa and 2) contains sulfur of 34.5 mg/kg instead of the maximum permitted 10 mg/kg. - Sample B: 1) has a vapor pressure of 61.8Kpa instead of the maximum permitted 60.0Kpa and 2) contains sulfur of 22.6 mg/kg instead of the maximum permitted 10 mg/kg. |

From the control carried out by the Piraeus Chemical Service of the General Directorate of the General Chemical State Laboratory, and according to the appeal examination report No. 30/020/000/4950/27.11.2024, the 95-octane unleaded gasoline sample 14162/2024 was found to be "abnormal, adulterated at a rate of about 86% with a mixture of light of petroleum oils containing methanol and isobutanol because it: 1) contains the tracer quinizarin at a concentration of 0.41 mg/L instead of 3.0 mg/L, 2) contains methanol at a concentration of 9.57%v/v instead of the maximum allowed 3%v/v, 3) contains isobutanol at a concentration of 26.04%v/v instead of the maximum allowed 15%v/v, 4) has an oxygen content of 12.21%m/m instead of the maximum allowed 3.7%m/m.
